Thoughts On Giving

Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness.

- Seneca

If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap.

If you want happiness for a day, go fishing.

If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune.

If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.

- Chinese proverb

A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves.

- Lawrence G. Lovasik

What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other.

- George Eliot

Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.

- Lao Tzu

Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.

- Eleanor Roosevelt

Donations

Many people wonder if their donation to an organization really makes at difference.

Just ask Michelle, who works at a local restaurant. Her employer cannot afford to offer health care benefits and Michelle can’t afford to buy it herself. She has ongoing medical needs that, when she first came to VIMO, were out of control since she hadn't been to a doctor in over two years. She can only support her three children when she's able to work. The care she receives at VIMO has resulted in her improved physical and emotional health. Being healthy enables her to work steadily, reduces the stress she was feeling, and helps her manage her active family. Everyone is doing better.

Michelle's care, and that of the other 2,000 VIMO patients, is provided by your donations, local grants and United Way. Everyone who works at VIMO is a volunteer—all the doctors, nurses, mid-level practitioners and clerical and front desk people. They give freely of their time and talents for a variety of reasons, but one is the smile on Michelle’s face when they see her improving.

Your donations make this all possible. You truly make the difference to VIMO patients like Michelle, her family, her employer and even yourself, as her customer.

To make a contribution to VIMO, please make your check out to "Volunteers in Medicine of the Olympics" and send it to our office address. To donate services, equipment or other physical resources, call our office directly.

Thank you.
